Frequently Asked Questions

1 I want to try the club out can I just turn up one Tuesday?

Our membership numbers vary from term to term so you are best contacting us to make sure we have a free place before coming along. It also means we can look out for you on the night.

2 Can I pay as I play/ Drop in? How much are the subs?

Unfortunately no. To make the club economical for everyone we charge on a 12 week termly basis at £30, it works out at £1.25 per hour of badminton.

3 How competitive are the matches?

We're a relaxed and friendly group of mixed level badminton players, although the games are competive we don't take it too seriously. We play to 15 and as such everyone gets to play in more combinations throughout the night with each game being at a different level depending on who is playing.

4 I've never played badminton before will I be made welcome?

Over the years a significant proportion of our members have started having never played previously and as such we are all very patient and happy to teach new players. We play to 15 and as such everyone gets to play in more combinations throughout the night with each game being at a different level depending on who is playing. Spare racquets are available to borrow if you don't have your own.

5 Do I have to commit to the club after the first week?

We understand you need a few weeks to get a feel for the club and as such for new players the first week is free followed by two weeks at £3 each before you have to decide whether you wish to become a member.

6 What age are the majority of your members?

We have a wide mix of members from early 20's to 50's.

 7 What should I wear/ bring?

Wear clothes you feel comfortable in and are able to move about in along with soft soled shoes. If you have a racquet please bring it along otherwise the club has spare racquets which can be borrowed or purchased. We will supply the shuttlecocks.

 8 Do you have socials?

The club has a social secretary who organises activities throughout each month, the friendly social nature of the club also means there are regular adhoc visits to the pub and nights out.

9 Where about at Meadowbank Sports Centre do you play?

We play downstairs in Hall 1, courts 5, 6, 7 & 8 which are the back four courts on the left side as you enter the hall.
